Understand the factory before you build.

Cogli is a daily factory-routing puzzle. The board gives you sources, fixed tiles and an output; your job is to place the smallest useful machine between them.

Read the route first

  • Resources move one square at a time, so every arrow is part of the route.
  • Machines accept inputs from their open sides and send finished work through their output side.
  • Dead ends, blocked squares and full buffers are deliberate constraints, not broken tiles.
  • Build an obvious working route first, then remove parts until you reach the star target.

Machine reference

Deposit
Pushes out a resource every couple of ticks, always in the direction it faces. Some deposits hold a limited amount — when the number runs out, that is all you get.
Belt
Carries one resource, one square, in the direction it points. A belt takes resources in from any side except the one it points at, so corners need no special piece — just turn the belt.
Bridge
Carries two lanes across the same square without mixing them. Its main arrow shows the first lane; the crossing lane turns right from it.
Splitter
Resources enter the stem and leave alternately from the two sides. If one side is backed up, the splitter sends everything the other way until it clears.
Sorter
Sends the chosen resource to its matching side and everything else to the other side. It is available only on puzzles that give you one.
Merger
Combines up to three incoming lines into one. It takes turns between them, so no line is left waiting while another hogs the route.
Maker
Holds ingredients until it has a full recipe, works for a moment, then pushes the finished product out of the side it faces. It will not take anything in through that side.
Output
Accepts the product you were asked for and counts it. Anything else is turned away and will back up behind it.
Obstacle
A blocked square. You cannot place on it, so route around it or use another fixed tile to cross the board.
Gravity well
Pulls a resource in from the side opposite its arrow, holds it for one tick, then ejects it in the arrow direction. It is fixed to the puzzle.
Wormhole pair
Matching letters mark two fixed endpoints. A resource entering one reappears at the other and leaves in that endpoint's arrow direction.
Magnet
Accepts iron and copper from any side, then ejects them in its arrow direction. It is fixed to the puzzle and cannot be placed.
Buffer
Stores resources until it is full, then releases the batch one item per tick in its arrow direction. It is fixed to the puzzle.

Resources and recipes

Iron and copper are raw resources. Makers consume them and return products; the goal tells you which product must reach the output and how many are needed.

  • Plate: 1 Iron → 1 Plate
  • Cog: 2 Iron → 1 Cog
  • Wire: 1 Copper → 1 Wire
  • Circuit: 1 Plate + 1 Wire → 1 Circuit
  • Engine: 1 Plate + 1 Cog → 1 Engine

Special tiles and modifiers

Gravity wells, wormholes, magnets and buffers are fixed parts of the board. They may be essential, helpful, or a red herring. A modifier changes the character of a daily puzzle; it does not change the core loop of route, run, inspect and refine.

  • Rush hour: The factory has less time to deliver the goal.
  • No bridges: Route everything on the same plane.
  • No splitters: Every branch has to be solved another way.
  • Bridgeworks: Today's inventory is bridge-heavy, giving you more ways to cross the factory.
  • Wormhole relay: A fixed wormhole pair offers a shortcut through the factory.
  • Gravity field: A gravity well bends the route before it reaches the output.
  • Magnetic storm: A magnet can pull iron and copper into a better line.
  • Batch shift: A buffer must fill before it releases its batch.
  • Sorting shift: A sorter is available for separating mixed resources when the route calls for it.
  • Obstacle course: Extra obstacles turn the open board into a deliberate route.
